Katy Perry Hates Fame: Other Stars that Feel the Same Way
Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 | Katy Perry Given the constant presence of paparazzi and the steady stream of rumors that appear online, we shouldn't be too shocked when celebrities like Katy Perry comment about their hatred of fame. The singing sensation recently joined a list of superstars that admitted that they hate the bright lights of fame. "I'm tired of being famous already. But I'm not tired of creating," said the 27-year-old "Firework" singer. "Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do." While she might not enjoy the constant camera flashes, don't expect Katy to stop making music anytime soon. Plenty of other celebrities have said they hated being famous in the past but kept on doing their thing. Here is a look at some other stars that denounced fame.
Kristen Stewart
The "Twilight" star is the female lead in one of the most successful franchises in recent memory. All she needs to do is look at the long lines of young people during the opening weekend of one of the vampire-themed films to see just how big of a star she has become. The actress that plays Bella in the hit movies has said publicly that she has no interest in being a movie star. "Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I'm an actor. It's bizarre to me that everybody's so obsessive," said the star before comparing fame to Robert Pattinson's character in the "Twilight" films. "As a vampire, he has a sad, desolate life. Fame is the same."
Johnny Depp
The Oscar-nominated actor was a respected performer before "Pirates of the Caribbean" shot his fame to new heights. Despite the bigger box office receipts and mainstream fans, the actor still manages to remain fairly reclusive by Hollywood standards and avoids the hype that comes with stardom. "I want to remain ignorant of all this," the actor once said of fame. "I want to be totally outside and far away from all of it."
Harrison Ford
The legendary actor has starred in two of the most successful movie franchises in history. As both Indiana Jones and Han Solo, Ford is known to virtually everyone no matter what generation they come from. However, that doesn't mean he is jumping for joy about his status. "There's nothing good about being famous," the actor once bluntly stated. "You never figure the cost of fame will be a total loss of privacy. That's incalculable. What a burden that is for anybody. It was unanticipated and I've never enjoyed it. You can get the table you want in a restaurant. It gets you doctor's appointments. But what's that worth? Nothing."
