Question/confession.
What is it about top music from 1999 that has me so captivated… 13 years later?
I may feel light years away from the girl I was at 12, but I don't think I'll ever grow out of… or grow up… from the music that year. Every time I hear I Want It That Way or No Scrubs or Iris, it's like I'm hearing it for the first time.
The late 90s, man.
Anyway. Most of this music is brand new or brand new-to-me. Enjoy, and Happy Thursday to you.

1) Bang a Gong :: T. Rex | Something else I am very oddly captivated by: the preview for Dark Shadows. I really, really want to see it. I'm not a Johnny Depp or Tim Burton either. Maybe it's this song in the preview I keep watching.
2) Somebody :: Bonnie McKee | Sweet song. It's catchy. Slow jams playlist.
3) Endless Summer :: Aaron Lewis | This week's country pick. The summer imagery is overwhelming. Every time I think about this summer, I get so giddy. No grand plans, but guaranteed good times, sunny days, crazy nights.
4) Endless Summer :: Cascada | The one above reminded me of this one. I like Cascada and this is a fist-pumping song. Plus, more summer imagery.
5) Here's to Us :: Halestorm | I had another one of their songs on a playlist a couple weeks ago. Their stuff is a bit… loud? forceful? angry-sounding? … but still really good.
6) Payphone :: Maroon 5, Wiz Khalifa | Different collaboration! Great separate and together. I have a feeling this one is going to be BIG. You know.
7) Parent Me :: Json, JR | Oh man I LOVE JSON. I discovered one of his songs (Behind the Clouds) a couple months ago and I have played it a lot. Starting to get hooked on the rest of his stuff too.
8) In This Life :: Chantal Kreviazuk | Slow jams playlist.
9) Lovely :: John West, Pusha T. | A little sexchuality never hurt anybody.
10) Come On :: Ben Jelen | Good stuff. Very catchy. Guy friend loves it.
11) Let My Soul Rest :: Richard Ashcroft | On my commute playlist this week.
12) How Bizarre :: OMC | Such a summer song for me.
13) You be Killing 'Em :: Fabolous | The best part of this song is the opening. The beat… and then… NIIIIIICE. The lyrics are pretty hilarious too. The girl he refers to seems high maintenance.
14) Acoustic Alchemy :: Norwegian Recycling | One of my favorite mash-ups.
15) Out of My Head :: Fastball | One of my favorites of all time……. it's from 1999.
