Yes, you read that correctly.
I find that certain actors are afflicted with what I like to call "Ethan Hawke Syndrome." You've seen it, many times, though you may not have realized it.
Ethan Hawke Syndrome is a malady that plagues young actors, without their knowledge, and slowly reveals itself over time.
They start off young, sexy, with a jawline that could cut granite. Their wide smile is framed by lips you'd kill to kiss, if you weren't so afraid of having your eye poked out by those deliciously pronounced cheekbones.
But then they get older. Those pointy bits get even pointier as their skin shrinks in on itself, transforming their faces into sallow skeletons of their former glory. They suddenly favor the disheveled look, with messy 'dos and patchy facial hair. And they always have those sunken in, beady little eyes...
The short of it is, the older they get, the more they look like a crack head.
Don't take that the wrong way. I love Ethan Hawke. I think he's an amazing actor and he's the star of my favorite film of all time (Gattaca). I'm not saying Ethan Hawke is a crack head.
I'm saying he looks like one.

It's a shame because each and every one of these men was HOT. James Franco still is, on his good days. But as each and every year crawls by, he will follow the fate of his predecessors and look more and more like a malnourished, chain-smoking, greasy-haired, crack head.
