johnny-depp-dark-shadowsYesterday we went to the movies and saw Dark Shadows, the new Tim Burton and Johnny Depp film. The film cast dark shadows over our enjoyment. Hah. I couldn't get into it. Johnny Depp looked like a bloated human tic in it, and the accent was too bothersome. Like your average hipster I could launch into a sarcastic slaughter of the film.

But, I am glad we went and we did have a very nice time, even as we scoffed over the movie. Sometimes you can have a nice time as you join others in condemning something, apparently. The witch trials were probably not to fun for the accused witches, but the audience could have a jolly old time talking to the neighbour about the time the accused turned the beer into water. They probably brought the knitting too, and pillows for the uncomfortable benches.

We also had the chance to walk home in a wonderful summer evening. Yesterday was a good day, then, just to offset my whining elsewhere. :)

origo1This morning I also totally fell in love with a Finnish series of plates and cups. The manufacturer Iitala has made a series called Origo, and one of my school mates leafed through a catalogue where those were displayed.

I so want them, but I expect they will be expensive as hell. Our cheap IKEA stuff is already worn thin, and we should get new stuff one of these days. I'll probably have to bite my teeth and just replace the things with new cheap IKEA stuff.

But if I could have a few of the Origo series, I wouldn't complain. Not at all. We have to have some nice stuff in the kitchen, right? To offset all the crap we're being given to furnish the house once Mark's mum leave for good.

hackroots-english-dubbedWe also had that talk last evening, that serious talk, and it was a good one. Mark felt bad about all the bickering the other day, and promised to be more with me, and then he told me off for being over-sensitive, and for being silly.

Which I may have been, but there's two of us in this relationship, and sometimes my silliness does warrant his attention. But we stayed in our bit of the house for the rest of the evening and watched some anime on my little notebook.

I'm a fan of a series called .hack, and we watched a few episodes of the Roots-season. He hadn't actually seen it, and he's supposed to be the Otaku in our relationship. I almost feel a bit triumphant about knowing anime that he hadn't seen. Well, he started to quiz me about Helsing and Evangelion to get back at me.

Bastard.
