John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II, born June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, is an American actor and musician.
Depp was discovered by his exwife's friend Nicolas Cage. He debuted as an actor in 1984 in A Nightmare on Elm Street and hit with a major role in the television series 21 Jump Street.
Depp has won the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor. Depp had his breakthrough in the 1980s in the television series 21 Jump Street, and became a teen idol. His breakthrough film came with Edward Scissorhands (1990) and later found success in films such as Sleepy Hollow (1999), Pirates of the Caribbean series (2003-2006-2007-2011), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and Rango (2011) . He has collaborated with director and friend Tim Burton in seven films, including Sweeney Todd (2007) and Alice in Wonderland (2010).
