New York, June 2 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – In recognition of his achievements and his contribution to cinema, Johnny Depp will be honored with the MTV Generation award at the network's 2012 MTV Movie Awards, in Los Angeles on Sunday (03.06.12).
'The Pirates Of The Caribbean' star has created so many iconic characters throughout his career like Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, Raoul Duke, etc.
Stephen Friedman, President of MTV stated: "Johnny Depp is a fearless, once-in-a-generation talent with a chameleon-like ability to inhabit any role. 'With years of astonishing performances, Johnny has truly earned this Generation Award, and we look forward to honouring him with a can't-miss tribute at this year's Movie Awards.'
Johnny will be presented the award by The Black Keys, who will also perform a special version of Gold On the Ceiling for the screen god. Comedian Russell Brand will serve as host and the award will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday.
Previous recipients of the prestigious awards include Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock,Tom Cruise Adam Sandler and comedian Jim Carrey.
Johnny is currently busy filming his latest movie, 'The Lone Ranger'. in which he is cast as Tonto. The Lone Ranger is a fictional character, a masked ex-Texas Ranger who, with his Native American companion Tonto, fights injustice in the American Old West. The character has become an enduring icon of American culture.
