John’s treasured photo with Johnny Mathis[MEN SYNDICATION]
The day after the sold-out show at the Phones4u Arena in Manchester, John consoled himself by playing the star’s Greatest Hits album as he picked up his first fare of the day at a hotel in the city.
He was stunned to discover his passenger was Mathis himself, who said, “you’ve got good taste in music” as he got in.
“I turned around, saw it was Johnny and all I could think to say was ‘hiya’,” said John, 65, yesterday.
Mathis, 78, happily posed for photos with his fan of 30 years. John said: “This was better than going to the show.”
