Transcendence is a pure sci-fiction movie that can be rather boring. There is lack of human interactions and emotions involved, which somewhat makes it tasteless. However, the technology presented in the movie is really cool and it involves much intellectual thinking. The best part was making you confuse over whether Will’s consciousness is in the system or is it PINN taking control of the system and that was only revealed towards the end of the movie. Transcendence make me think about the philosophy of technology and human being, also considering the degree of advance in technology that humans should pursue. Is technology advancement really beneficial for humans in light of the issue of humanity? Should that be one day that technology can empower the world and gain control over humans? Should we use technology to enhance humans lives thinking that it will be beneficial? Is there really a need to put human consciousness into a system to enhance human lives? Does taking away the nature of consciousness of humans makes us indifferent from a robot? I guess all the ponders can bring up a great discussion under technology in schools and I believe this movie can be an inspiration or resource for teaching where many fundamental issues of technology is brought up in the movie. As the movie is a fiction, I guess the producers do not have enough information about this advance technology of artificial intelligence that makes the movie have a lot of loopholes and thus slightly harder to grasp the whole concept. In the end, I still love Johnny Depp hehe ^^
