Wally Pfister did his best to entertain us with Transcendence starring the ever popular Johnny Depp as Dr. Will Caster, a genius who is trying to invent a super computer who knows everything! As with all greats there are haters and fear of the potential. An assassination attempt on him encourages his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) to “upload” his conscious mind to his computer PINN. His body dies but his mind goes on via technology. At first it seems like a great thing until it begins surpassing humans. I admit I dozed off a few times during this film and it struggled to keep me watching. But it does make you think and realize what if (at this rate it is likely) our machines began “transcending” us…I would recommend waiting for the Blu-Ray. I gave this one a 3 out of 5 and that much because of Johnny Depp.
