charisma.Charismatic people seem to go further in life, more easily. People make assumptions about them...POSITIVE assumptions. And when at times they don't live up to those assumptions, those charismatic people are forgiven more easily. The standards just seem to be a bit different, for them.
Charisma. What is it, exactly? For many it is that undefinable "it" quality that magnetic leaders like JFK had. Clinton certainly had it. Who would be on your charismatic list? Johnny Depp (or is it the characters he portrays?). Oprah? You know it when you see it, right? But what IS charisma? And how do YOU develop some of your own?
Here are the qualities that we ascribe to charismatic people: confidence. Warmth. Comfortable with themselves and others. Relaxed. Dynamic. Intelligent. Witty. Sexual/sensual. How can you become more charismatic? As with so many other traits, being charismatic can be learned. The key is to "act as if." Psychology research done by Bem shows that engaging in behavior will change attitudes and beliefs. While many people think you have to change your attitudes/beliefs first, in order to behave differently, it's just not true. So, if you emulate someone that you find to be charismatic, start to model them and take on some of their behaviors consistently, you will find in time your mind and mood changing accordingly. And when that happens, that behavior becomes yours; it becomes natural to you.
