Weird week here. I talk to my mom almost everyday on the phone. She calls at 3:30pm typically.  Sometimes at 10:30am.  I call her at random times and hope I'm not interrupting anything at work. Usually I interrupt something and she cannot talk long.

So I always know I'm busy when days go by without talking to my mom and then when she actually catches me she says "hey stranger, remember me?" And I always say "I have no idea who this is but the voice is vaguely familiar.  Oh yeah – IT'S MY VOICE!" Seriously. I sound just like my mother. Exact same voice. Do you sound like your mother? Also I have the same damn laugh as my brother. It's eerie. Every Time I have a good belly laugh I'm like OMG my brother is invading my body. What a jerk!

Anyway, the damn polar bear project is almost done and seriously would've been done already but now Eloise really wants a bloody, dead seal in the habitat. It's like her own personal Hunger Games.

We had  a really good day today though. We colored eggs and laughed a lot. I let my kids go 1/2 way around the block by themselves.  The smile on Eloise's face was quite evident that her week was just made with that simple gesture of freedom.   The girls then invited the two neighbor girls over so after Astrid went to bed I had four giggling girls all in a row on my couch watching Chipwrecked. They ate three bags of popcorn and finished off a liter of Ginger Ale.   They all wore their jammies and we took a jammie walk after the movie at 9pm in the dark and the girls were over the moon happy.  We walked their friends home and on the way home both my girls hugged me hard and said "thank you for letting us have a fun night, you're the best mom ever!"

Who knew that something as simple as chipmunks, popcorn, ginger ale, jammies and good friends could bring so much happiness.  I guess it doesn't change much though as Johnny Depp, sushi, wine, yoga pants and good friends pretty much make me insanely happy too.

Have a great weekend.
