~[ Emperor Lolo I ]~: Movie report

I've been busy in the last 6 months between relocation, work, travels, sport, parties and so on and slacked a bit on my movie addiction. I've been watching a couple of movies recently that I really like:
  • "We need to talk about Kevin": this movie was absolutely fantastic. I liked every bit of it: the acting, the emotion, the music, the way it's filmed, the weird relation between a son and his mother. Don't watch it if you are feeling moody, but it's a great movie. In fact, the movie that caught the most my attention in the last year.
  • "Shame": ok, the subject of the movie is already kind of weird (a guy addicted to sex who has anger / love / family issues and wander in the NYC nightlife). But I loved this movie, I thought it was really powerful, and explore a few subjects that felt was new in a movie. Same here, a bit of a dark / depressing movie, but really good.
  • "The girl with the dragon tatoo": ok, David Fincher is my favorite director, but I have to admit, I was disappointed. Not that the movie was bad, but I read the books and watch the original movies, and expected more. Enjoyable time, but not a movie that will stay in my head.
  • "Avengers". What can I say? You switch off your brain and go for one of these American superhero thing. You get what you expect: a well executed movie, superhero entertainment, saving the world and all. 3D doesn't make it better. Bleh.
  • "War Horse": didn't like that movie for some reason. I just didn't. I think Spielberg has been great at these type of movies, but they don't touch me no more. Am I too old?
  • "Dark Shadows": Tim Burton and Johnny Depp is just the winning combination. I looooooved that movie. It's artistically great, as usual, funny at times, a soap opera brought to modern times. They managed to make "just another vampire" movie, into something that's NOT "just another vampire" movie. Great job.
  • I finished "Desperate Housewives" and, well, I am sad. Thanks for all these years of entertainment.
  • I finished "House" yesterday, another chapter of my TV life that ended:)
